These special two day workshops, presented by Gwen Hedley, explore aspects of design in unusual ways. Each workshop (this June date is followed by another session in November) can be booked as a 'standalone' session, or both can be booked as a progressive course. You will build exciting and stimulating workbooks with surprises and unexpected elements inside, and ideas for further development. The course is suitable for beginners as well as the more experienced, but a sense of adventure is vital!

The Ruth Issett Summer School
BIG, BRIGHT and BOLD with a Floral Theme
Tues 1st July - Fri 4th July

A lively and challenging four day Summer School using both paper and fabric to develop ideas and free the creative soul! This course is for those who are willing to explore the possibilities of imagery, in a variety of materials in order to throw off the strait-jacket of the 'finished piece' and be willing to revel in the journey as well as the destination wherever that might be. Using flowers and foliage as inspiration the course will push the 'edges of the envelope' by using collage, painting, printing and drawing in a large free and experimental manner. This will lead to further experimental work using brightly coloured dyed fabric and paper to develop personal ideas using compositional pieces with the addition of stitch, print or even drawing. The course is designed for those with some design or textile experience who would like to challenge themselves and hopefully develop and refill their creative store cupboard with numerous future possibilities.
Cost: £153.00 (inc £8.00 materials charge)

These next workshop dates would not normally appear in this Spring programme, but appear only because there is an obvious link. Don't worry - we haven't cancelled all the workshops in between!
