All our workshops are held in our Studio in Semley just outside of Shaftesbury.


BOOKING INFORMATION FEE
All full day adult classes, unless otherwise stated, run from 10am - 4.00pm. Tea and coffee will be provided and you are welcome to bring a packed lunch. You can pre-order lunch from the Farmhouse for £5.00 payable on the day. Lunch will consist of a selection on sandwiches and pastry. Lunch must be pre-ordered by the specified date which will be sent to you with your Workshop Confirmation and Requirements List, approximately 4 weeks prior to the workshop.

CANCELLATION
Should the workshop have to be cancelled we will refund your fee in full. We regret that refunds cannot be given in any other circumstances and course fees or deposits are not transferable.

Please note that although a 60p handling charge is automatically added to your shopping cart this will NOT be charged to your credit card unless other mail order goods are purchased.

PAYMENT
We will only take a 50% non refundable deposit at time of ordering with the balance due 4 weeks prior to the workshop date. Any workshops booked within 4 weeks of the workshop date will have the full amount taken at time of ordering.

Of Heather's 'realistic' beaded sculptures the floral vine tassel is the most popular. In this workshop discover her simple art of beaded flowers. We'll create leaves, petals, buds and flowers and build a garland necklace (time permitting!) You'll be working in a variety of beadwork stitches and seed beads. Not suitable for beginners.

Wrapped & Beaded Donut - Thursday 14th January
Alison Nash

Have fun creating these lovely wrapped 'donut' shapes which are then decorated with beads. They can be made into decorative buttons, necklaces, bracelets and much more. Suitable for all abilities.

Use an interesting combination of stitches and beads to create a necklace reminiscent of Egyptian jewellery. Select your own colours to create a unique necklace. Because of the variety of stitches included in the day, some beading experience is necessary, but for inexperienced beaders this would be an excellent way to learn about the range of beads available. Experiment with Herringbone Stitch using a selection of different size beads including crystals and pearls. Work it all in whites and creams to give a fresh icy look or work in a colour of your choice. Add texture by incorporating beaded spikes and long crystals and a beaded loop crystal fastener. Peyote Ruffles Bracelet - Saturday 6th March

The bracelet is made using a multidrop Peyote stitch band as the base. This is then embellished with Peyote ruffles and crystals. Once you have learnt how to make the ruffled elements, you will be able to go on to use them in necklaces as pendants or as earrings. Some working knowledge of peyote stitch is essential.

The workshop focuses on various techniques for the different components. Five crystal flower racemes adorned with a few leaves are attached to each end of the lariat for a sumptuous result. Spring Trellis Collar - Thursday 15th April

A foundation of right angle weave is lavishly embellished with fringing, shell buttons and accent beads to make this comfortable collar. Learn to experiment with random bead mixes and how to increase the weave to make the collar curve, then have fun choosing how to decorate it! An understanding of single-needle right angle weave would be very helpful.

The smallest spherical structure comprises 60 atoms and it wasn't difficult for Mel to translate to beads, but making it in crystals was a different matter. She modified those which produced a prettier latticework and set to work with embellishment. Not suitable for beginners. Knowledge of RAW essential.

This stunning, softly draping rope is made using one of the more unusual stitches - tubular Triangle Weave. It is further enhanced with a beaded floral pendant. A reasonable amount of beading experience is needed for this project although no prior knowledge of Triangle Weave is necessary, so why not come along and learn what is likely to be a new stitch for most people. A sophisticated, embellished bracelet. The floral patterned base is enhanced with crystals, fire polished and cylinder beads. It is made using the little known Triangle Weave in its flat form. A reasonable amount of beading experience is needed for this project as size 15 cylinder beads will also be used. Suitable for intermediate/experienced beaders.

Bags Galore! Make four in a Weekend with Jennie Rayment

Workshop starts with three easy techniques for constructing bags then students have a chance to choose which of the other bags they wish to make. All students will cut out the first part of the requirements then choose which additional bag they wish to make and bring the relevant requirements. Feltmaking : Delicate scarves from felt and fabric with Lyn Griffiths

Students need basic skills in felt making. We work with combinations of fabric (silk, muslin, scrim) and fine Merino wool. Samples will be made to see how materials react to each other. Then, a series of beautiful scarves can be made, depending on your speed and level of skill. The result is a beautiful soft drape fabric, which shows the variety it is possible to achieve. A basic pack required for the sampling stage can be purchased from the tutor for £6. Materials available for purchase for making the scarves.

Fragile Flora: Created with Stitch and Fabric with Diana Sanderson

Discover the delights of designing with leaves. You will use a variety of techniques to explore the patterns of leaves using paint and resists before interpreting these designs into fabric. A combination of stitch and fabric distressing techniques will be incorporated to create a collection of fragile flora to compliment the autumnal leaves of nature. There will be an extra charge of £3 for materials on the day.

Jewellery from Wire and Beads with Sara Withers

We focus on making jewellery from beads and wire. Rather than using threads to make earrings, bracelets and necklaces, you manipulate jewellery making wires. You will learn the basic techniques for linking beads to form chains, learn how to make some findings and learn how to decorate beads with wires. The weekend can work as a continuation to the course earlier in the year or can be a stand alone course. The course price includes the cost of materials, but there will also be many more beads available for you to buy, if you choose to do so. All tools will be provided by the tutor, but do bring any tools, beads or even broken bead jewellery that you have. The weekend is better for students with a little experience, or those who are confident of their dexterity. Please remember you will need good eyesight, or glasses!

Mosaics: A Further Dimension with Priscilla Wheater

This course will focus on designing and using mosaic decoration in either two or three dimensions, suitable for the home or garden. Projects will include working with different types of materials, including vitreous glass, stained glass, ceramics and broken china. Students can bring any 3D object that could be changed/decorated using mosaic materials. Lots of items eg: large garden pots or interesting items found in a garden centre, can be given a new lease of life. Recycling is a consideration. This is an interesting course with lots of scope for new ideas, but suitable for all levels of ability. It is not essential to bring any objects as I will have plenty of stuff and ideas to work on. Materials are provided at cost, approx £32 to be paid on attendance.
